2016 – Rainbow Hearts
The Rochester Modern Quilt Guild is helping the Orlando MQG collect heart quilts in rainbow colors for anyone effected by the June 12 shooting at Pulse. Here are the blocks I’m contributing.
May we all live in harmony.
Complete – 2015 Princess’s Crown
This crib quilt is based on the traditional King’s Crown block, but I renamed it to reflect its size and color scheme.
This will go to the Genesee Valley Quilt Club’s Love and Comfort Quilt project. Here are some details, showing the crown details in the quilting:
Everything for this quilt came out of my fabric stash, including the backing. With this completion, I have only one unquilted project waiting in the wings.
Complete – 2015 Big Square
I finally took the photos for this charity baby quilt.
This has been donated to the Rochester Modern Quilt Guild’s charity effort to provide quilts for a local neonatal unit. Here are some details:
I like the texture of channel quilting; it makes running a hand along the quilt fun.

Update – Charity Quilt Blocks
Here are views of quilts made with charity blocks I posted November 21.
I contributed two blocks to this quilt. It was one of five the Rochester Modern Quilt Guild donated to Bivona Child Advocacy Center this fall.
This quilt is being assembled now by a member of RMQG and will be among those donated in 2015 to a local charity. In this photo, the blocks are being arranged on her design wall.
Guild members are still making blocks for the spool quilt; an update will be posted later.
African Themed Comfort Quilt – 2013
Inspired by a black and white fabric from Mali, this crib/lap quilt was made in 2013 and donated through the Genesee Valley Quilt Club. More of the imported fabric makes the back interesting. Black, white, and tan play well together.
Ohio Star Comfort Quilt – 2013
Here is a charity quilt from 2013 in the ever popular Ohio Star pattern. It was contributed to the Love and Comfort Quilts project of the Genesee Valley Quilt Club.
This is lap/crib sized with 12″ blocks – so about 40″ x 53″. All the fabrics were out of my stash, giving it a scrappy but coordinated look. The backing was originally from my mother’s linen closet.
Charity Blocks – 2014
As a member of the Rochester Modern Quilt Guild, I have contributed 12-1/2″ blocks to several group quilts we have constructed for local charities. Here are a few of them.
For the block above, everyone made a flower in their choice of color and surrounded it with any green.
I made two of the string pieced blocks. Everyone started with a white diagonal stripe; they were joined to form diamonds across the quilt.
Our current project will join everyone’s modern spool blocks. The “thread” is foundation pieced to add a fresh twist on a traditional design.
Finished – Log Cabin Pin Wheel Quilt Set on Point – 2014
Finished binding the log cabin comfort quilt yesterday.
Since I am donating it to the Love and Comfort Quilt effort of the Genesee Valley Quilt Club, I’ve taken several detail pics:
Update – Log Cabin Pin Wheel Set on Point – 2014
Here are the sketches made before piecing was done. Plan is at 45 degrees to put design on point.
Piecing is nearly finished. Here’s a corner, along with fabric for the backing. Fussy-cut block centers were cut from this fabric.
